Here's a calendar of upcoming events of Chess, Go and other traditional board games
Jun 09 The 2024 Play Professor's Cambridge Chess Megafinal. This will be at the Perse Upper School in Cambridge and is open to all junior players. There's no requirement to have played in a UK Chess Challenge heat. The entry fee is £35
Jun 16 The second Cambridge FIDE Chess RapidPlay will be held at Whittlesford Memorial Hall.
Oct 20 The UK Go Challenge Finals and British Small Board Go Championships will be held at Storey's Field Centre in Cambridge. The UK Go Challenge Finals are open to all junior players, there is no requirement to have played in a heat.
Nov 23 The Cambridgeshire County Individual Chess Championship: An annual five round Swiss tournament to decide the Cambridgeshire individual champion and junior champion titles.
Oct 06, Dec 01, Jan 26, Mar 02 The Play Professor's Cambridgeshire Chess Championships. This is for teams of 6 players, most represent local schools or groups of schools. The 2023/2024 edition had 24 teams and was won by King's Cambridge A.
Jul 25 - Aug 04 The 2024 British Chess Championships will be held in Hull at the City Hall and the Doubletree by Hilton hotel. As well as the main tournament there are Standard, Rapidplay and Blitz championships at each ageband U16, U14, U12, U10 and U8 as well as many other events.
Aug 14-17 The 2024 Youth Go Summer Camp will be at PGL Caythorpe in Lincolnshire.
Aug 18-26 The 2024 Mind Sports Olympiad will be held at JW3 on Finchley Road in London. As usual there will be tournaments of Chess and Go and other traditional board games like Shogi, Oware and Chinese Chess. There are also modern board games like Carcassonne and Settlers of Catan and some card games competitions too.
Nov 09 The British Youth Go Championships will be held at Leicester County Bridge Club, 67 St Oswald Road, Leicester, LE3 6RJ. All junior players can enter, there is no qualifying event. There will be an overall championship, and ageband titles U18, U16, U14, U12, U10 and U8. More details will be available soon.
